DYNASTY WATCH: Quarrymen Set Season 4 Roster as Quest for Four-Peat Begins at Harley Memorial
BEREA, OH — The three-time defending BLL champions are officially locked, loaded, and ready to defend their crown. Today, the Berea Quarrymen [BER] finalized their roster ahead of a highly anticipated Season 4 campaign, sending a clear message to the rest of the Rail Conference: the road to the Howat Cup still runs through Harley Memorial Coliseum.
While the core of the dynasty remains intact, the front office wasn't content to sit idle during the massive 24-team league expansion. Berea has injected fresh blood into the lineup with four major new additions:
- Ray Rippole Jr. (#24), bringing gritty Pittsburgh toughness to the right wing.
- Mason Cadman (#25), adding reliable depth to the left-wing rotation out of Akron.
- Erik McGrath (#66), a powerhouse hometown defenseman out of Berea to fortify the blue line.
- Paul Springowski (#76), a highly anticipated tactical center arriving from Lorain.
The Twin Towers of the Blue Line
The big story out of training camp centers around the absolute wall the Quarrymen are building on the defense. By pairing new arrival Erik McGrath (#66) with veteran Tyler Visnic (#74), Berea has formed what scouts project to be one of the most punishing, lock-down defensive lines the league has ever seen. Standing as two massive, physical forces over 6-foot and weighing in at 285 lbs each, this duo is custom-built to clear the crease and completely neutralize opposing forwards along the boards.
Yet, as terrifying as that new pairing sounds, opponents still have to reckon with the top unit. Braeden Kinnaird (#11) and Rail Dog (#9) remain firmly locked in as the undisputed greatest defensive duo the league has seen at this point. Their unmatched chemistry and shutdown capabilities have been the backbone of all three championship banners hanging at Harley Memorial.
Kinnaird, the hometown star, also continues to completely shatter the individual record books. He enters the season as the franchise's all-time scoring leader with a mind-boggling 396 career goals. More impressively, he has proven to be the ultimate big-game hunter, accounting for 99 playoff goals during the team's historic three-year run. He sits exactly one playoff goal away from becoming the first player in BLL history to hit the triple-digit postseason milestone.
Between the pipes, the champions look as secure as ever. Ace Wigley (#31) returns as the clear number-one starter after anchoring three consecutive cup-winning runs, backed up by the steady hand of Jared Gareau (#42).
With the newly minted Junction District Rail Yard Dawgs [JNC] launching a standalone challenge right down the street at Front and Depot, the hometown pressure has never been higher. But with a perfect blend of historic championship experience, legendary top-pair chemistry, and a new 285-pound shutdown line, the Quarrymen look fully prepared to turn the regular-season grind into a historic four-peat.
